Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway Steam Railway (SKLR) is a unique narrow gauge line built to connect the paper mills at Sittingbourne and Kemsley to Ridham Dock.

he original steam locomotives, coaches and wagons still operate the line. Leader (built 1905), Melior (1924) and Superb (1940) climb out of Sittingbourne Viaduct station onto the century-old, kilometre-long Milton Regis Viaduct and through Milton Creek Country Park to Britain’s largest paper mill at Kemsley Down.

Here you will find the Railway’s main base including shop, Footplate Café, museum, sidings, engine shed, picnic areas and wildlife garden. A return trip can take as little as an hour but two hours are recommended.

Opening Times: Easter - end of September Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays, also Wednesdays in August. Trains generally depart Sittingbourne Viaduct station hourly 1pm-4pm

Cost: A return trip £7 adults, £5 senior citizens, £3 children (aged 3-13), under 3s free, £19 family (2 adults & up to 4 children).
